GEICO Military has signed on for a three-year partnership to sponsor Midway’s self-guided general and family audio tours. Recorded in the voices of the sailors who served on Midway, the audio tours are engaging and inspiring as they guide guests through ship’s decks and spaces recounting what life at sea was like on board the longest-serving aircraft carrier of the 20th century.

The partnership delivers GEICO Military visibility through branded onboard tour-stop signage and audio-tour-handset lanyards as well as a recorded introduction on both audio tours. As part of the partnership, Midway introduced a new tour stop telling the GEICO Military story and of their support for military families beginning in 1936.

During the pandemic, GEICO Military also sponsored a series of five new videos that deliver a unique docent-led virtual tour of some of the ship’s most popular spaces. These videos are used to enrich visitors’ onboard experience and include virtual tours of:

• The 2nd Deck – Midway’s “City at Sea” featuring enlisted berthing, galleys, sick bay and other spaces.

• The Bridge – The command center for the ship while underway.

• Primary Flight Control – The control center for Midway flight operations.

• Tactical Flag Command Center (TFCC) – The command center for combat tactical planning.

• CIC and CAG Loop – Midway’s Combat Information Center and Carrier Air Group.

Each virtual tour features first-hand accounts, current and historical video footage, voiceover narration, quality sound design and music, and special effects all produced to engage and inspire viewers.

GEICO Military’s support for Midway over the past several years has grown from sponsorship of select Midway patriotic-themed public special events to exclusive presenting sponsorship of the museum’s Operation Frequent Wind exhibit and now its self-guided audio tours.
